The winners of the 2020 Maureen E. Nolan Foundation Scholarships were announced on Friday during Joe Nolan’s First Day of Summer webcast on  There were dozens of entries.  The process narrowed the field first to 12 then 7 then 5.  Finally, the full committee voted on the finalists and the two essays emerged from the pack. 

Entries were submitted from St. Peter’s Prep, Mt. St. Mary Academy, Immaculata High School, Seton Hall Prep, Mother Seton Regional High School, Morris Catholic High School, St. Dominic’s Academy, Union Catholic Regional High School, St. Joseph’s High School (Metuchen), Roselle Catholic High School, St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Don Bosco Prep, Holy Spirit High School (Absecon) among others. 


Each winner will receive a scholarship in the amount of $2,500 which will be awarded at a reception in late June. 

The winners are Melanie V. of Mt. St. Mary Academy in Watchung and Amy M. of Mother Seton Regional High School in Clark.  The recipients will be notified by mail later this week. 


The Foundation would like to thank all the students who sent in essays, all our judges including our chair Michelle Nolan.
